What is somatic bodywork?
Somatic bodywork is hands-on work that meets you as a whole person, not a set of muscles. Rather than working on a problem, Pam works with you. Slow, intuitive contact helps your body soften, reorganize, and come back to a natural sense of ease. It is an experience of being met, listened to, and allowed to simply be.
What makes it somatic is that it follows the body’s own intelligence. When something surfaces that is not only physical, Pam meets it with BodyTalk or energy work, then returns to her hands. The session goes where you need it to go.
Where the training comes from
Pam was a Registered Massage Therapist for eighteen years, trained in a 3,000-hour program, and retired her registration at the end of 2023. Everything she knows about the body’s structure came from that work. Everything she knows about what the body holds came from the twenty years of BodyTalk, energy work, and shamanic practice alongside it. Somatic bodywork is where the two meet.
She is not registered now, so this is not massage therapy and not a clinical or medical service. If a plain, restful massage is what you are after, that is its own session: Massage (Non-Registered).
How Pam works
Nothing is forced or pre-planned. She follows what your body is asking for in the moment, offering slow, attuned contact and space for your system to settle. She believes touch is essential for processing and integrating life’s experiences, and she trusts the body to lead.
What a session involves
This work happens in person on the land at Kayanara, woven through a two-night intensive or a retreat. It is part of your stay, not billed separately. Expect a calm, unhurried session with no fixed agenda, followed by simple guidance to help you carry the settled feeling with you.
Who it’s for
Somatic bodywork is for you if you are carrying tension your system has not been able to let go of, feel disconnected from your body, or want hands-on work that can follow a thread past the physical when one appears.
